The Partner by John Grisham

No matter where I go or how  many books I read, I always come home to John Grisham. I'm a sucker for quick-witted criminals with good intentions and John Grisham always portrays his main characters as such. Patrick Lannigan (or whatever his name is right now) is no exception.

Four and a half years ago, a law firm lost a partner in a tragic car fire and a few weeks later, $90 million from their best deal to date was stolen immediately after it was wired into its offshore account. Suspicion and circumstantial evidence led to the belief the two events coincided too well, which began the hunt for Patrick. The FBI, an insurance company, unscrupulous lawyers and their firms suffered major losses and would stop at nothing to recover them.

After leaving behind his gold-digging wife, a 2 year old daughter, a job he despised and a life he had no interest in, Patrick lived a sheltered life in a small town hiding from his past. He assumed multiple identities and homes while on the run and luck always seemed to favour him - but how many lives does one man have?

I  always joke that John Grisham writes a great novel and then rushes the ending just for the sake of having an ending. The Partner starts off underwhelmingly like his endings but ends with a KILLER PLOT TWIST.

If you're a fan of law or crime fiction with secrets, blackmail, torture, suspense and a lot of well-thought conniving, John Grisham wrote this gem for you.
